Compelling narratives inspired by people and place

Born in the English Midlands, Michelle Lawson now divides her time between Devon, the French Pyrenees and less-familiar corners of Central-Eastern Europe such as Western Ukraine. She is inspired by how place can be a portal to understanding ourselves. This permeates her work, both fiction and non-fiction.

Fiction

Michelle’s fiction career has been inspired by her observations of people and place. Themes of manipulation and vulnerability, and the difficulty of separating a dream from reality, inspired her debut novel, The Wicked Game, set in the intriguing city of Kathmandu.

The Wicked Game by Michelle Lawson

The Wicked Game is a contemporary story where the grey damp of northern England competes with the exotic backdrop of Nepal. Where the line between adventure and obsession becomes blurred.

With its themes of vulnerability, obsession and manipulation, The Wicked Game examines how easily we can cross the line into an alternative version of reality.
